The season swaps the boat for the abbey
In winter, and when the river runs low, the shared wine days go to Melk Abbey instead of sailing. More than one traveller preferred the swap.
Dürnstein goes by fast
On the coach days, the stop in Dürnstein is the one travellers wish were longer. If the town matters to you, a private day sets its own clock.
The long days are long
The days that add Salzburg and Hallstatt run 12 to 13 hours, and the Wachau is a short stop in them. Travellers who loved them came for the whole of Austria, not the valley alone.
